What is TRTP?
TRTP™ is a comprehensive and elegantly simple step-by-step process created by Judith Richards; you can find out more about Judith and TRTP™ in greater detail here on her website.
TRTP™ effectively and safely resolves extreme trauma and trauma-related issues, such as anxiety, depression, fears, and phobias, usually within just three (2 hour) sessions. The TRTP™ process is a structured unique, eclectic, dynamic process. TRTP™ draws on a range of therapies, including Gestalt Therapy, Mindfulness, Ego-state Therapy, Choice Therapy, Cognitive Therapy, Parts Therapy, Emotion-focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dream Rehearsal Therapy, and more.
TRTP™ utilises deep imagination to address trauma stored within the subconscious and body. Trauma experts like Dr. Bessel van der Kolk and Dr. Peter Levine outline two key requirements for resolving trauma:
1. Moving the person to an empowered position in relation to the trauma; and
2. Enabling the body to recognise that the event is over.
TRTP™ is an approach aligns with both of these requirements.
The first TRTP™ session addresses the unconscious core beliefs that keep individuals stuck in patterns of thought, emotion, and behaviour. Dealing with this early on allows the client to avoid self-sabotage during subsequent sessions. In the next session TRTP™ then removes the emotional charge from the past, empowering the client to relate to the trauma in a more self-regulated manner. Using deep imagination, the therapist can speak directly to the body and unconscious, moving the client from fight/flight/freeze to a state of calm and safety. The final TRTP™ session sets up the client's subconscious to experience their desired future.
TRTP™ is not merely symptom-focused but addresses the underlying cause of the trauma, returning the person to a state of empowerment and calm by removing the emotional charge from the past. Mārama Counselling offers TRTP™ through three* online one-on-one sessions. Book in for a free initial consult to discuss more.
*Sometimes an additional session will be needed - included in the price.
TRTP and Children
Before a child engages in the TRTP process, it is essential that one or both parents undergoes the TRTP process.
